Welcome to FindMyCFI. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the FindMyCFI website and service (the "Service"). FindMyCFI is operated by Grayson Fritz as an individual ("FindMyCFI," "we," "us," or "our").
Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What FindMyCFI is, and what it is not
FindMyCFI is a discovery marketplace. We provide a map-based platform where student pilots can find Certified Flight Instructors and where instructors can list their services and be found. We are an introduction layer only.
FindMyCFI is not a flight school, is not a party to any instruction arrangement you make with another user, and does not provide flight instruction. Any agreement to give or receive instruction, including scheduling, payment, aircraft, and the conduct of any flight, is solely between the instructor and the student. We are not involved in those arrangements and are not responsible for them.
2. Certificate verification, no endorsement
Except for the certificate verification described below, we do not verify the identity, currency, qualifications, insurance, or fitness of any user, including any instructor. A profile on FindMyCFI is information provided by that user. The presence of an instructor on the Service is not an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee by us of any kind.
About the certificate verification badge. An instructor may choose to upload a copy of a flight instructor certificate. When they do, a member of our team reviews the uploaded document and cross-checks the certificate against the public FAA airman registry. If the certificate corresponds to a flight instructor certificate on the registry at that time, we mark the profile with a verification badge.
This badge means only that, at the time of review, a person confirmed the uploaded certificate against the FAA airman registry. It reflects the registry as of the date of that review and is not monitored or re-checked on an ongoing basis. The badge does not mean that the certificate remains current or unrevoked after the review; that the instructor's medical certificate, flight review, or currency is valid; that the instructor holds adequate insurance; that we have verified the instructor's identity beyond the submitted document; or that we endorse, recommend, or guarantee the instructor, their competence, or their safety in any way. We may add, withhold, or remove the badge at our discretion and do not guarantee its accuracy.
You are solely responsible for independently verifying any instructor's credentials, currency, and suitability before flying with them, regardless of whether the instructor displays a verification badge. This includes checking the FAA airman registry yourself and confirming ratings, medical currency, flight review status, and insurance directly with the instructor. You are responsible for your own safety and for exercising your own judgment about whom you fly with and under what conditions.
3. Eligibility and minors
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that the information you provide, including your date of birth, is accurate.
Users who are 16 or 17 years old. If you are 16 or 17, you may hold an account only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. At signup, you will be asked to attest that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf and will supervise your use of the Service. "Supervise" includes being aware of and involved in any arrangement for in-person flight instruction made through the Service, including who the instructor is and when and where instruction takes place. A parent or legal guardian who permits a minor's use of the Service agrees to these Terms on the minor's behalf and accepts responsibility for that supervision. FindMyCFI does not independently verify parental consent and relies on the accuracy of the attestation given at signup.
Users under 16. The Service is not available to anyone under 16. We do not knowingly permit anyone under 16 to create an account, and we will remove any account we learn belongs to a user under 16.
4. Your account
You are responsible for the information you provide and for activity that occurs under your account. Keep your login secure. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorization. You may not impersonate another person, misrepresent your credentials, or create an account on behalf of someone else without authority.
5. User conduct
You agree not to use the Service to: violate any law or regulation; post false, misleading, or fraudulent information, including misrepresenting flight credentials; harass, threaten, or abuse another user; collect or harvest other users' information; interfere with or disrupt the Service; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system or data; or use the Service for any purpose other than connecting with instructors or students in good faith.
We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a risk to other users or the Service.
6. User content
You retain ownership of the content you submit, including profile information, photos, messages, and reviews. By submitting content, you grant FindMyCFI a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and use that content as needed to operate and promote the Service. You are responsible for the content you submit and represent that you have the right to submit it and that it does not violate any law or the rights of others.
7. Reviews
Reviews must reflect genuine experiences and may be left only after a real interaction through the Service. Do not post reviews that are false, defamatory, or designed to manipulate ratings. We may remove reviews that violate these Terms, but we are not obligated to monitor or moderate reviews and are not responsible for their content.
8. Fees
The Service is currently free to use. We may introduce fees for some features in the future. If we do, we will give notice and you will not be charged for a paid feature without your agreement.
9. Intellectual property
The FindMyCFI name, logo, design, and the Service itself are owned by us and protected by applicable law. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our branding without our prior written permission. The interactive map and related data are provided through third-party services subject to their own terms.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ACCURATE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY INSTRUCTOR OR STUDENT LISTED IS QUALIFIED, AVAILABLE, OR SUITABLE.
YOU USE THE SERVICE, AND ENGAGE WITH ANY USER YOU FIND THROUGH IT, AT YOUR OWN RISK.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FINDMYCFI AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR YOUR INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER USERS.
IN PARTICULAR, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INJURY, DAMAGE, LOSS, OR HARM ARISING FROM FLIGHT INSTRUCTION, FLIGHT ACTIVITY, OR ANY ARRANGEMENT BETWEEN USERS THAT BEGAN THROUGH THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FindMyCFI and its operator from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the Service, your content, your interactions with other users, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification.
14. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may change or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date and provide notice as appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
